Online Kundalini Yoga is the ‘Yoga of Awareness.’ I was trained by Sat Siri in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The devotion and diverse elements of movement, breath, sound, chanting, meditation and emphasis on community made me fall deeply in love with this practice and brings me great joy to teach and share it with people.
My teacher, Sat Siri impacted my connection to the practice. Sat Siri has a fierce maternal aura with a dry wit. Her classes are powerful and I experienced profound depth and healing in her teaching. I emphasise this because I did not know the origin of the Guru who bought it to India. That was not important to me. It was my experience and how I felt during her class that inspired me to practice and teach.
Kundalini Yoga was brought to Los Angeles by Yogi Bhajan back in the swinging 60’s, he made it his mission to create teachers and felt called to prepare people for the transition into the Aquarian consciousness that we are experiencing now.
He predicted that previously unknown challenges such as new pandemics, depressions, fatigue related illnesses would rapidly increase. He also saw that the increase in technology would make our minds over stimulated and we would lose a sense of balance due to the information overload.
This is why all types of yoga and meditation are increasing in popularity. More than ever we need to go within to re-balance, to find a sense of peace and a quiet place within to make decisions in a world full of choices.
Kundalini Yoga was not the creation of Yogi Bhajan, he was the messenger that made it available outside of India. Sadly in 2019 many allegations were made public of sexual harassment. This has been devastating to the community. This does not negate the fact he left a legacy in the technology of Kundalini Yoga which has helped countless numbers of people. This practice speaks to your soul. It is not just a fitness regime. Your inner awareness and heart center will open.
