The Wallow

I believe the ‘Wallow’ is a necessary and healthy thing to allow yourself to do now and again! I would advise putting a time limit on your wallow state, say – an afternoon, a few days, a week, maybe you need months, you decide.

I think it’s healthy because some of us like to, ‘keep buggering on‘ as the English say. We keep up the facade that everything is ok, when actually, you need to feel sorry for yourself and let the tears flow and the grumbling commence.

How does the wallow look? Well, again, I leave it open to personal interpretation. It could be putting on movie, eating ice cream out of the tub, drinking a bottle of wine, eating bags of crisps/chips.

Maybe you need to stay in bed, let the self-care go, get greasy hair and be feral for a few days. Phone friends that are good at holding space and listening assupposed to fixing and judging.

Most importantly, do not judge yourself. Give yourself permission to relax, do nothing, be in the victim state and just wallow!

Life can be hard and sometimes it is perfectly ok to admit you are not ok!
